Instructions for Ordering Desk Copies

Most publishers will send examination copies (i.e. free copies of books that you may want to assign for a class that you may have to return and/or pay for unless you assign the book) and desk copies (i.e. free copies of books that you have assigned) to TAs and Professors. Often times the bookstore arranges the acquisition of desk copies for the classes that you will be TAing. In the event that you need to request a book, however, most publishers have information on their websites on how specifically to acquire these books. Some have a web form, some require a letter to be mailed or faxed on official department stationary, etc. Generally, when making these requests, you will need the following information: Course name and number, semester being offered, number of students expected to take the class, bookstore at which books have been ordered, address, telephone number, and role.
