Fall 2018 Call for Submissions

The College of William and Mary’s premier undergraduate history journal, The James Blair Historical Review, is now accepting submissions for its Fall 2018 issue!

For the past seven years, our journal has enjoyed the privilege of publishing high quality history papers by undergraduate students from nationally recognized institutions of higher learning. We are looking for papers which represent original research, engage heavily with primary sources, and offer a thorough examination of a historical topic. Papers can focus on any period or geographic area, and all majors are welcome to submit historically-oriented papers.

The deadline for submissions is 11:59 pm on September 14, 2018, but we encourage interested persons to submit at their earliest convenience. Please consider the following guidelines:

  • Articles should be no longer than 25 pages (not counting the bibliography) with 12-point font and double spacing
  • Up to three submissions are allowed
  • Papers that have been published or are currently being considered for publication in other journals will not be accepted
  • A full bibliography following the Chicago Manual of Style should appear at the end of each submission, and notes in the style throughout
  • Spelling/grammar errors should be avoided (and preferably absent)
  • The author’s name, student ID number, email, or any other identifying characteristics cannot be present on the submitted document
  • Each submission must be a Microsoft Word document—PDFs and other files may not load correctly
