Introductory Seminar in United States History

"Black Power"

HIUS 1501 will cover the Black Power Movement from the 1950’s through the 1970’s.  It will focus on African American leadership in American society, examining political organizations, urban upheavals, controversies, leaders and icons.


Information will be presented through texts, historical documents, documentaries, films and recordings. Students will be expected to actively participate in lively discussions and informed exchange of ideas.
