Prof Graebner Has Passed On

It is with sadness that we note the passing of Prof. Norm Gaebner, teacher and scholar of American Diplomatic history, a long time member of the department, as Stettinius Professor and later Compton Professor of History.  The Daily Progress published an obituary on May 12, 2010.  If you would like to see it online, please follow this link:

Prof. Graebner was a man defined by a genuine commitment to ideals transcending mere accomplishment or advancement.  He will be missed.  A public memorial service will be held at the UVa Chapel at 2 pm on June 7.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville, 501 Grove Avenue, Charlottesville, Virginia 22902, or Episcopal Relief and Development, P.O. Box 7058, Merrifield, Virginia 22116.
